    Hurricane Helene poem and photos
A poem I wrote about the way our mountains have changed. I grew up in Todd, NC and have been living in Asheville the last three years and was living in biltmore village when the Storm hit. The only place I had to evacuate was Boone which was also heavily hit. To watch the worlds I lvoe wash away was painful and I spent weeks and months being angry and sad. But this poem is about love and hope in those times. These are also photos I took while in asheville and after when me and some others came together and form a relief team that ended up building a distribution site and free store and were contracted out eventually and paid for the work we were doing. I love these mountains and these people

    Stieby Flood Story
During the morning of Hurricane Helene, the backyard of the house I was living in completely flooded, trees were falling down and later in the morning, the cinderblocks in the basement of the house caved in and water was rushing into the bottom of the house.

    National guard serving Blowing Rock
Helene hit our neighborhood and knocked down trees and we lost power and cell for weeks. Got a video of the National Guard a Chinook helicopter with supplies.
