When the internet finally started working again I remember checking facebook and seeing all the posts of people searching for their loved ones. The face of a teacher was seared in my mind. She and her husband went to check on their “retirement home” on Elk River. At that moment when they entered the house it slid off its foundation and was swept downstream. Her husband survived but she was never found. I wrote a song about how her body was folded into the banks of the river. I wanted her to be at peace. I wanted to tell her children she is held forever by the river. I know they long for closure. Will it ever come?
